A day of rest and beauty

Today we had programs at church all day, along with two potlucks and lots of time to visit. I took along my knitting to keep my fingers busy, and finished the Shetland Shells lace scarf. Before blocking it I need to fix one little boo-boo on one of the "shells," where I only got 14 of the 15 stitches purled together. I think I'll take it into the LYS for advice on that.

I also took along my Turkish spindle for its public debut, and finished the batting I had with me. I got surprisingly few questions, but one dear friend who knits and crochets decided that spindling is something she wants to learn someday. It will probably have to wait awhile; she's a single mom (of the adorable Hannah), works full-time AND is working on her master's degree in the evenings!

When I got home this evening, I saw that a second variety of dahlia had opened:
My little red daylilies, which are planted between the taller yellow ones, are looking lovely as well.

BTW, this is my 1000th post! That's one down of my two big milestones this month; enter here if you'd like to be in the "milestone giveaway."

That's it for this week at . . .

Congtatulations indeed! Both on the 100 posts, and the lovely scarf. It looks VERY intricate, and WAY beyond my basic knitting abilities.

I can't wait to see the scarf after it's blocked.

I would love to see a post where you talk about HOW you spin on your turkish spindle (maybe some pictures of you spinnin?). I love the idea of spinning a center pull ball but am afraid that drop spindling would cause my tendonitis and/or carple tunnel to flair up...
