The gang's all here

We pulled into our driveway about 8:00 last night, thankful to be home safe and sound from our adventures. All the critters who stayed here were fine; I picked up two gratifyingly ecstatic dogs this morning. We are still in the throes of all the unpacking and cleaning that is the aftermath of a long horse-camping trip, after spending the morning picking ripe and ready strawberries and raspberries in our garden. I am grateful for a cool, mostly cloudy day to be doing all this; the forecast we watched last night said summer hits with a vengeance this week, with a string of days in the 90s.

Until I have time to download and review my photos, here's a summary of Cowboy Campmeeting 2010 in the Umatilla National Forest outside Dayton, WA.

Trip to and from: Long but uneventful.
Weather: Cool to cold, with some rain (less dust!).
Meetings: Challenging and inspiring.
Rides: Scenic and safe.
Wildflowers: BREATHTAKING!
Knitting: Progress on the Shetland seashells scarf.
Mishaps: Rick's horse kicked Brian's pony the night we arrived, but after 24 hours and some Bute, she was as good as new. Camper's battery was dead, but were able to get a new one thanks to someone else's run to town for supplies. Camper's hot water heater apparently cracked last winter, but we did have cold running water after a bit of repair work.
Next year's announced location: Buck Meadows at the base of Mt. Adams - much closer to home.

That's it for now from . . .

Welcome back! Can't wait to see photos and more details. It's been hot, hot, hot here and very dry. Maybe some of the cool moist air will move this way. ;-)

Glad you all made it home safely! I'd love to hear more details about the trip and how the speakers were, who all was there, etc. Rick doesn't share much information and sounds like he didn't enjoy the trip much at all. I'm very glad to hear that next year will be at Mt. Adams...yeah!!!!
