I thought it was about time to update you on the chickies, even though the photography studio was unavailable for glamour shots. The Speckled Sussex girls have caught up to the slightly older Easter Eggers in size - well, all except for their tail feathers. I think the splashy four are 14 weeks old now; Muffy and Buffy are 2-3 weeks older.
That's it for now from . . .

I really like the color of them!
Lovely chickens... I like the speckled ones myself.. What color egges to they lay? I love brown eggs.. I don't know what it is , I just think they taste better.
ta ta for now from Iowa ~ it's 4 degrees right now and it's freezing outside.
Annie, my chickies and I are very glad it's not that cold here! The specked Sussex lay brown eggs; the Easter Eggers could lay blue, green, pink or brown eggs. I'm hoping for blue or green from them; gussies up the egg cartons!
I love chick pix! Your Sussex are so pretty. I'm considering ordering a few more egg layers if and when we do get a meat breed. Wouldn't mind having a few more laying hens, especially since this year's will be on their 2nd year egg laying decline.
Oh what a bevy of pretty girls!
And I know I'm behind but your spinner looks just wonderful! Glad you're enjoying it.
Awe, too bad you couldn't do the glamour shots. My EE, One-Eyed Jack, would have loved to use the pix as pin-up girls in his coop. ;-)
Muffy and Buffy - they sound like "Vally Girls!" You know, like, from that place in California.....(toss hair). I hope they won't expect regular 'peddies' from you! ha-ha
I have some Speckled Sussex and some Americanas, 2 of my favorite breeds of chickens for laying.
You have some lovely young ladies there.
