The name game

As I mentioned in the last post, I'm rethinking the names of Brava's and Dinah's ram lambs. This isn't typical for me: I love naming things and don't usually change my mind once I've done so. But it was pointed out to me that Bosco is a brand of chocolate syrup - not very fitting for a white sheep! So do I go with a name that means white/fair, like the Gaelic Bain/Baine or Banan? Or do I pick one of the many music-related names on my list, since I'm thinking of going that route for Inky's twins?

And while I'm rethinking names, is Blake the best name for Brava's handsome ramling? I don't know for sure that he will stay "dark" (the meaning of Blake); several more experienced shepherds have expressed their doubts and he does come from two musket parents. If I wanted a one-syllable name (to go with Brava's first lambs with one-syllable names, Beau and Boo) that's music-themed, he could be Bach or Brahms. But I also fancy Bravo, both because it ties in with his dam's and sire's names and because they produced a son worth cheering about.

As for Inky's black and musket brothers, I'm partial to Bodhran and Bagpipe or Becker and Bernstein.

What do you think? I welcome your input while I'm waffling in my weariness from this week's lambings!

My two cents :)
I like Banan for the little white guy; Blake I like, it is a strong name; Bodhran is great, but not fond of Bagpipe (might make him long winded :), I like Bernstein better.

I love Bodhran! Another B name I like very much is Brodrick, or Broderick. Such darling little babies! Are you still concerned about Dinah's little ram, or is he back to being bouncy and healthy?

How about Blanc for the white boy?

Happy Easter! What a busy week you've had. I like Bravo, Becker and Banan. I know I'm short a name. Hope you get some girls!

Keep the input coming, readers! The white lamb is doing great now, and loves to have me scritch his torso all over. He'll make a wonderful fiber pet for someone!

Or Bennie and Bjorn, the two ABBA Swedes. Both B's AND musical!

Happy Easter to you and yours, Michelle!

Oh Kathy, I LIKE those! I actually had down BeeGee and bABBA on my list, as well as Bjorn, but I like Bennie and Bjorn for the twins.

Now there's a "B" name I need to add to my list, Adrienne. Thanks!

You can never have too many bodhrans or bagpipes! ; )

What fun, Michelle...the naming of your lambs...makes them important and special and not just ear-tagged with pink or blue paint :)

I love your musical names, which seem Celtic and apt. How about some Biblical names...like Jacob, Esau, Abraham, Moses? Maybe you've already had all these?

Musical instruments? Clarsach, Accordian, Melodeon, Bombarde, Uilleann, Fiddle...

Oh yes, Wildlife Gardener, everything here gets a name! For the sheep, though, since I have such a tiny flock with Boulderneigh as my prefix, I choose lamb names that begin with the letter B. I didn't realize Bombarde is a musical instrument, though! I know of another nice Shetland ram with that name, although his prefix is different.

I am terrible at names and would probably go for the obvious, like Blanca. Sorry, I can't help you but they are adorable. No wonder a lamb represents innocence.

Just catching up. Those are some cute lambies!!! You don't want any input from here on names. We come up with names like Brushy and Comby ;-).
