Another "loose wheel" (Lucille) - an escapee from the neighbor's chicken quarters. She's been hanging out in the wooded lot with the lambs, drinking from their water bucket and cleaning up stray bits of grain. Guess we have a free-range chicken to eat bugs now!

The lambs seem to think I should sit and snuggle with them as much now that we're home as I did at the show. I obliged them for awhile the other day. This isn't a particularly flattering shot of Blackberry, but I love it still. He has such a beautiful head, with his dam's dark, expressive eyes.
Here he is doing his best bull elk imitation.The McMinnville Downtown Association's Summer Brown Bag Series has started again; today we're going to see a tap-dancing sax player. (What? You think I made that up?) Next week is our biggest horse-camping trip of the year. The garden is growing and we're eating strawberries and raspberries from it now.

Ah, the mystery of the missing ear tag. I had to replace two tags that disappeared this spring. I think the plastic gets brittle over time, especially after a few winters. I found parts of tags that had broken in the area of the connecting pin. I have no idea what maneuver would result in snapping the tag at that point. But there were no tears in the ears, thank goodness. New tags went into the same holes. Both broken tags were button tags.
Thanks, Carol. I figured it must have broken somehow, but haven't found any pieces. My scrapie inspection is next month, so I was going to ask what to do. SO glad her ear didn't tear; torn ears make me sad!

You said it - sometimes I hate vacations and being away from home - I finally got my pictures downloaded but the ones that you have of her are much better than mine - Yes, I agree that the judge only had eyes for the BIG sheep - he should study the breed specifications a little before he goes to shows!
