Croci in the sun.
Daffodil buds.
Irises emerging from their bed.
Spring has definitely come to the Willamette Valley. The sun is waking me up earlier (until daylight savings time starts again this Sunday, grumble-grumble-grumble), and the plethora of spring flowers has begun its slow parade. It won't be long before bouncing babies are born, which means it's time to start a CONTEST! Like last year, the person who guesses my lambing results most accurately will win a prize. Leave your guess in the comments; so I can determine a clear winner, I want you to guess the total number of lambs, how many girls and boys, and how many gulmoget-patterned lambs I'll get. The prize will be "winner's choice;" I'll post the prize options later. Guesses can be made through March 20; I'll announce the winner at the end of lambing season - whenever that is! Below are the four ladies-in-waiting, and a shot of wide-load Inky, the ewe who's due first:
Yesterday morning I found an egg in Lucille's enclosure. It had an interesting color variation where it had rested on the floor of the henhouse. Her eggs are on the large side; here it is (the darker one) with a Rhodie egg:I released Lucille from protective custody, and things seemed to be going well enough yesterday. Today poor Lucille is getting harsher treatment. :-(
That's it for now from . . .

Can't wait until our crocuses start blooming again, the daffodils as well as the many other flowers!
Too funny! We both posted about eggs and used the words grumble, grumble. I swear I wasn't copying you! No guesses on babies, because last year I "guessed" we would have NO babies and we all know how that turned out ;-).
I have no idea how to calculate a guess on the new babies, but I hope that some arrive on my birthday again!! :-D
7 lambs
3 girls
4 boys
1 gulmoget
That is too funny...Kathleen already made my guess for numbers, so I will change the boy/girl ratio a little!
7 total
5 girls
2 boys
3 gulmoget
I can't wait to see them!
Well, I was going to guess the same as Kathleen as well. So, to switch things up a bit and hedge my bets - 'cause I would love a sheep pin :-) - I'm saying 8 lambs! 4 and 4 and since I don't know what a gulmoget is, I'm going to pick a random number and say 3.
Your spring flowers are beautiful. We don't have any as of yet, but soon. My guess for lambs is...
6 lambs
4 girls
2 boys
2 gulmoget
I want to play!
Total lambs: 8 (1 single, 2 sets of twins, and 1 set of triplets.)
Ram lambs: 3
Ewe lambs: 5 (because after last year we are due to have more ewe lambs!)
Gulmogets: 4
(I'd love the pins! I want to knit Deb's shawl pattern so I am spinning for that.)
I can't wait to see lambs in my pastures and on everyone's blogs!!!
Oh gosh, maybe I should do this on my blog for my Icelandics!
8 lambs
5 boys
3 girls
2 gulmoget
I'll guess:
6 lambs
4 girls
3 boys
1 gulmoget-patterned
6 lambs
3 girls
3 boys
2 gulmoget
I think that those guesses weren't already taken? :)
ideally a gulmoget out of butter please :)
6 Lambs
4 Boys
2 Girls
2 gulmoget
B.
Ok, you convinced me...
7 total
3 ewes
4 rams
0 gulmogets
8 total
6 ewes
2 rams
1 gulmogets
7 altogether: 3 rams, 4 ewes.
5 gulmoget
Okay, I'll give this a try. I think 7 lambs, 4 rams, 3 ewes, 2 gulmoget.
Ummm...what if there's a tie?
Kathleen, so far each guess is different, and if everyone sticks to that, no ties are possible. If no one guesses exactly right, I'll give the prize to the person with the closest guess.
I guess 7 lambs
4 girls
3 boys
4 guls
