Compensation

This morning the predawn sky looked promising, but the interesting clouds never caught fire. So I was tickled pink by the sky when I headed to the barn to start the hay steamer this afternoon:

As I moved around the barnyard, it just got better,
and better!
I figured it was my compensation for the lack of sunrise color.

I got a little compensation for the parenting headaches, too. Last night Jackson was sitting on my lap (what would I do without a faithful dog?) and Brian wanted a selfie with me. I hate being photographed, but was pleasantly surprised by the result:
Yep; I'm keeping this one! (The dog and photo, too. ;-)

Now, when am I going to get some compensation from my free-loading chickens??? Every single one of them has been on strike since January 26!

That's it for now from . . .

I swear you get the best sky photos! That last one is breathtaking! I do love that group selfie. You can refer back to it during more...turbulent...times.

I almost ran myself off the road last night trying to catch glimpses of that beautiful sky! It truly was amazing. Our free loading chicken girls took all fall and winter off, just recently having started laying again. Egg count is 3 and I think they're all from Merrylegs...

The sky photos are lovely, but so too is the family group. I hate seeing photos of myself (I often say to people "You can take my photo as long as you never show it to me!" - they never believe me, and send me attachmen,ts of photos where I look stupid. "Oh it looks just like you!" they say.) - so it's always nice if I find one I like. I doin't know if this one looks just like you - but I think you look nice!!

Thanks, Susan; we get a lot of beautiful skies here – I just snap photos of them!

I've never had such an extended stretch of no eggs, Lorie. Good thing I don't cook with a lot!

Thanks, Mokihana. :-)

I am the opposite of photogenic, Alison, but this photo I like.

Thanks, Suz; it was a happy accident! (My dog usually HATES having a camera/phone pointed at him.)

Donna, sometimes I think all most of us GET are the small things, so we'd better learn to appreciate them!

Yes, we're hanging in there, Debbie. ;-)

Thanks, Claire. As much as I hate photos of me, I know I always appreciate getting to see photos of blogpals I have yet to get to meeting IRL, so that prompted me to share.
