off I go! Finally got the camper on the pickup yesterday and quite a bit of packing done last night. This morning I am loading everything but the sheep, getting Brian through violin practice and schoolwork, then meeting up with Rick when I can to hand over the boy and head to Eugene. Would like to get there in time to unload and settle sheep, get a spot and hook up my camper to electricity, and go to dinner with the NW Shetlands group, but we shall see.
Part of our garden, weeds and all.
The weather continues to be wetter and cooler than average (wettest June and second wettest May on record in Portland), which I far prefer when hauling and showing animals. (Oh, I'll just admit it; I prefer it to heat anytime!) Because of or in spite of the weather, our garden grows. We have been eating radishes (globes and greens), lettuces and spinach for awhile, and now we are getting strawberries and the first raspberries. The potatoes are going great guns; we should get a lot of tasty, homegrown spuds this year! It is interesting how happy the potatoes are in this weather, and how UNhappy the tomatoes are, given that they are both in the nightshade family. Last week at the farmer's market, I bought some basil plants and a curly parsley, and this week I bought a couple zucchini plants to replace all the seeds that didn't germinate. I think that should do it for planting this year, unless I replant the no-show carrots.
Look for lots of photos of sheeps and friends when I return!
That's it for now from . . .

Have a safe trip and a wonderful time!!!
I wish my garden had the 'weeds' yours does. It has been raining SOO much here lately. I am not sure I have a garden left! Just weeds!!
Can you send some of that cool weather down here? They are calling for mid 90's next week!
Good luck and would love to see a picture of your traveling rig!
Tammy
I am having the same wet garden event Michelle. We just came through two weeks of constant rain and I got out to weed for the first time. We lost 75% of our winter squashes and corn and 90% of our melons from rot. Ah well, right?
Enjoy the BSG for all of us Shetland lovers who cannot get there. It should be such fun.
Our garden is doing the same - great guns potatoes, nothing tomatoes. I'd rather be cool and will probably be visiting the Hmongs at the farmers' market again this year for those juicy red orbs. See you tomorrow!!
Have great fun at the show!
Have a great trip!!!
The plants are taking over here in the hot and humid, jungle like atmosphere. I too hate it HOT! Drive safely and have fun!
