A Sunday surprise!

You just never know what a day might bring! This afternoon I got a call from Laura, another blog pal with whom I share much in common - sheep, horses, fiber, dogs, mutual blog pals. We've connected on the phone and talked of meeting (managed to miss each other at Black Sheep Gathering this June); she has even offered to board Braveheart for me if that would make flock management easier. She happened to be coming through my neck of the woods to deliver some turkeys and chickens and wondered if I was going to be home! I was delighted to be able to say yes, and in less than a half hour she pulled into Boulderneigh. While she may have had the advantage of recognizing me, Brian and all our critters, I certainly didn't feel like I was meeting a stranger; it was yet one more wonderful occasion to put a face and a hug to a name and voice.

Laura didn't want me photographing her, a sentiment I totally understand, so I took pictures of the handsome poultry in the bed of her truck instead. That striking Welsummer rooster and a couple of those Light Brahmas (one is peeking around on the left) could have stayed right here if I had more room in the chicken yard!

Thank-you so much, Laura, for blessing us with your surprise visit; come again on a warmer day and maybe we could go for a ride!

That's it for now from inhospitably cold . . .

Beautiful birds! I'm a sucker for turkeys - and hers look really nice. What fun to have an unexpected visitor on a Sunday afternoon.
