I'm a lucky beggar

My wishes were horses,
and I got seals besides.
(As well as gorgeous weather, shells and a bald eagle!)
Yes, I got my family ride on the beach, and it was lovely. We weren't the only group of riders out there; it seemed to be a popular Mother's Day activity! We even ran into a vet who used to work for my husband, out for a ride with two of her daughters.

Breakfast was lovely, too. Rick and Brian cooked, served and cleaned up, and the food was delicious. Rick's mother was particularly pleased with the gesture.

The day did start out with a sad shock, though. When Brian went out to the garage to feed Robin Hood, our little feathered charge was dead. We have no idea what went wrong; he was lively and ate well at bedtime the night before. I've raised several baby birds successfully before, so this failure took me by surprise and broke my heart a little. (It's a good thing I'm not superstitious, or I would have been paranoid all Mother's Day long!) But my lambies were a soothing balm to my soul; I had a little love-fest with them after morning chores. My special gift was the chance to give Blaise a surreptitious neck rubbing when she came up behind the other lambs. She enjoyed it but I don't think realized I was the source of her pleasure. Eventually, she'll get it. ;-)

I have a finished object to show for yesterday's drive time, too:
Brian inherited my small noggin, so this gift Toque, Yo makes him look like an elegant Cat In The Hat. Hopefully it fits its intended! Now it's full steam ahead on Mr. Brownjeans.

That's it for Mother's Day 2014 from . . .

Love that hat on your handsome fellow. Nice work.
Oh, to ride a horse on a beach. I guess this should be added to my bucket list. I've always wanted to do this.
Hope the whole Mother's Day was a good one. Happiness to you.
