I am working at Rick's clinic today, resting secure in the knowledge that my naughty lambs can no longer be up to no good. The squirts are still small enough to slip through or under the arena panels, and are FAR too independent to stay with the flock (as long as they have each other - ha). This
makes made the ewes - especially Annabelle -
BAAAA loudly and incessantly, annoying all humans within earshot. While ewes yelled, lambs danced all over the loose hay bales in the barn and played among the sticky weeds around the manure pile, messing up hay and fleeces royally. And yes, they've gobbled up those pretty albino maple leaves, just like last year’s lambs did.
Well, no more.
Yesterday I led everyone to pasture (What? The rest of you don't halter your sheep every morning to lead them out to pasture?) and then drug out the hog panels to block the lambs from going any farther than the arena. It's a win-win set-up; they still get to
feel naughty and independent by leaving their moms behind in the pasture, but can't get
too far or
too messy.
The shepherdess always wins at . . .

Naughty, Naughty sheep!!! I have a Maremma that thinks he needs to be in the big shed now!! He actually crawls under the gate to get out, it's such a small space, I didn't believe he'd fit until I saw it with my own eyes.
Gosh, those hog panels on the fence look familiar!
I hate it when you have to outsmart a sheep... Good thing they don't have opposable thumbs!!
Too bad about the maple leaves - they are pretty cool!
