Three-day summer

It was hot here for a bit! Too-hot-to-lay-on-the-carpet-or-the-couch, hot-dog hot. Never fear, it has cooled off again, and the dogs are back on the living room carpet.

Today I got the last garden seeds in the ground - purple bush beans, summer and winter squash. The radishes planted last Sunday are up. Last year I used radish greens for the first time; I think we enjoyed them as much as the radishes!

And new varieties of iris keep joining the parade, like debutantes at the ball:

Rick and Brian went fishing this afternoon. I don't know how much joy a boy can handle in one weekend.

That's it for now from . . .

You got three days of summer? NO FAIR! Here on the coast we had one very warm, overcast day and then today it sprinkled off and on and the sun shone off and on.

Oh, all your irises remind me of my grandma - she had a HUGE iris bed. The Shepherd only like the Japanese iris, and unfortunately ALL of ours (he had about 20 different varieties!) died a last winter - every darn one of them. Broke my heart - I loved seeing them in bloom in our garden. Enjoy the short spring that we are having! T.

I would have gladly shared, Ruth. Hot flashes and hot weather at the same time aren't fun. :-/

Tina, I love the Japanese iris, too, but I got the vast majority of these free so that is what I've stuck with. So sad that you lost all of yours!

Fishing in the summer with his dad? How much better can it get? We had a reprieve, but it's going to heat up again soon. Beautiful irises!
