FINALLY - a third hen has rejoined the work force! This is the first egg from someone other than Buffy and Muffy, the two Easter Eggers, in over a month.

To me it seemed so obvious a name. Scots-Irish flavor like my husband's family name, McMillen, and regionally compatible with the origins of the little Shetland sheep we decided to raise. Lots of boulders in the area. Neigh, as in the sound horses make (which we also have) and short for "neighboring," as in neighboring all those boulders....

Congrats!
I am SO GLAD to see someone else gets dirty eggs. I clean mine every Saturday (or when I bring them in, actually) before they go to the food pantry. People would faint if they saw fresh from the coop eggs sometimes.
As much rain as we were getting, the only way to get clean eggs would be to keep the girls closed up in the coop!
