Berlin breakthrough with Chuckie cameo

The ewes aren't happy about being kept off the foxtail-filled pasture, but they aren't yelling at me quite as much now. Berlin has become much more self-assured. She reads the other ewes' body language and gets out of the way if someone says "Git!", and pesters when she thinks she can get away with it. She's curious but cautious about me; I've cornered and caught her a few times to get her used to being handled.

This morning after chores and dishing out extra calories to the two old gals, I went into the fold and sat down for awhile. Bridget, Bree, and Blaise pushed in for petting; Sarai and Vienna kept checking to see if I had any more rice bran pellets for them. (Bette and Bernadette always watch warily from a distance; they are my flighty girls.) Berlin was curious, so I extended my hand towards her and she sniffed my fingers several times. Then slowly, gradually, she let me rub a little under her chin. She liked that enough that if I stopped, she'd come a little closer (although on the other side of a pushy sheep), eventually letting me stroke all over her sweet little head.

This is a major breakthrough; I predict we will be spending lots of mutually enjoyable time together. 😊

Chuckie wonders why I need another pet. He would gladly take ALL my attention!

That's it for now from . . .

Friday and a Rock Star appearance! That belly pose is adorable! If I was around Berlin, I would be tempted to carry her around all day! Great photos!

I still say Chuckie should be let into the house. (Hee-hee.) And wouldn't one certain doggie like (not so much) that!

Berlin's pictures made me "awwww..." and Chuckie's made me laugh. Great post, Michelle. It's always fun to watch the little ones decide the humans are okay and that they like being petted. Of the four kids I still have, only one is a hold-out. But with patience, the always come around.

Actually, Poppy would LOVE that, Mama Pea! They are buddies, although sometimes Poppy gets awfully rough with poor Chuckie.

You need to do another goat post, Leigh!

Ahhh, my Chuckie, that affection grabbing fellow!! And, oh my, that Berlin, pretty little lady she is and I bet she will provide you with some great fleece. Love her coloring. I don't know how you part with any of your sheep - as I know you must do if the flock gets too big.

That Chuckie 'Smell My Belly' pose is exactly what my OJ does when he has had enough of Annie Oakley. THAT is a very dangerous, but innocent looking, trap set and ready for any dog foolish enough to stick his/her beak into the fuzz. I'm sure Chuckie can handle Poppy just fine. Fun to see your pics.

I'm sitting here oohing and aahing over the pictures of Berlin! She is so sweet and so beautiful! I hope she will soon be coming running to you for more petting and loving it! Then I look at the adorable pictures of Chuckie, and grin and smile! Such a character! So much fun this morning looking at your blog! Thank you for sharing!!
