Cracks in the ceiling

That's what popped into my head when I looked out the window this morning and saw THIS:

A bit later in the morning I heard a familiar drill, and looked out the window, through the deck posts, to see this flicker doing its best to put cracks in the ceiling of a birdhouse:

Maybe it was cleaning the place up for these guys:
That's a lady Western Bluebird! Yesterday afternoon I rode my horse down our gravel lane and saw my first bluebird of the year about a half-mile away:
I was thrilled when they made it down to our place today, and started checking out potential nesting sites.

Today was FULL of rare and beautiful gifts. I have these on the table, a gift from Brian's violin teacher's wife:

I got this in the mail yesterday, an art print gift to myself (a freebie from Shutterfly):

These lovelies are outside:

And tonight? Shine on, silver moon!

Beautiful from beginning to end at . . .

Lovely pics Michelle, such a fine day. We get the Mountain Bluebirds here on occasion.
No flicker's yet that I have seen but the Pileated variety were busy yesterday. Their hammering can be heard quite plainly. Lance the handsome shines in that print for sure!

You are so good at finding "the beautiful" . . . and sharing with all of us! Thanks a bunch! Those tulips . . . how lovely.

Hi Michelle :) I love the bird photos. We used to get a lot of varieties of birds here, but noticed lately a lot of them have moved on which I find a little sad! I hope we get some beauties this summer! Lovely photos!

I am envious of your bluebirds! I'm too wooded here for them, but my region the Puget Sound area isn't in their range. I do get bald eagles a lot, so that's fun. I had one land in the maple next to my garage the other morning, with breakfast in tow - a still quacking duck! :-o S/he flew off with the duck (I think he landed to get a better grip on things) and another eagle right behind him

Beautiful pictures, as always!
Cheers.
