Multicraftual me

Last night (and into the wee hours this morning) my Featherweight and I made these:

They are "Christmas tree" napkins (there's a tutorial here, but I bought a template and fabric at a local fabric store . . . years ago) that I made in non-holiday fabric so my niece can use them year-round. She is graduating from college with her bachelor's in nursing this week, and is getting set up for housekeeping on her own. These ten napkins will hopefully match both her china and her everyday dishes. My MIL left for NE today for the occasion and Christmas, and will deliver them for me.

Now I need to finish up the last few rows of these

so I can mail them to TX, and then whip out a pair for Brian for Christmas. Then I have a couple cardigan patterns I'm anxious to cast on for ME, but I can't even think about them right now.

Between the airport runs, the Christmas parties, and the cold with its increased chore load, photography and blogging have suffered. I haven't been slaving away without compensation, though. The sheepies pay me back with much love. ;-)

That's it for now from . . .

Awww, nothing better than sheep lovies, except mine usually are asking for goodies in exchange...

Each year I swear (not bad words) I'm going to work on my handmade Christmas gifts in September and October so there's not this pressure (I put on myself) in the month of December. But it just doesn't FEEEEEL like the right time to be Christmas crafting in September and October! (Whine, whine.)

The napkins are a lovely, thoughtful gift. Your niece should be very pleased. You are so talented!

Why is it that the projects we'd like to do for ourselves always end up at the bottom of our lists? Looks like you have plenty to do - I love those napkins (and the fact that you, too, have a Featherweight...)

I love those napkins and am in awe of anybody who can get them to turn out right!! Mine seem to go all wonky and I finally just gave up.

Aw, who can resist sheepy love. I'll definitely have to check out those napkins. Sounds like they're a challenge!

Beautiful napkins Michelle! I really like the way you used two completely different prints.

Ruth, that's why I don't like to get them used to treats.

Mama Pea, I do hope she'll like them (but they don't take much talent).

Featherweights rock, Susan!

FFG, they didn't give me any trouble at all; I was surprised. Maybe I used cooperative fabric? We'll see, because I have two or three more sets of coordinating fabric with which to make these.

Leigh, I didn't find them a challenge – and I'm by no means a seamstress!

I'm trying to stay warm, Beth, and am glad the sheep are well clothed!

Thanks, Nancy.

Lorie, the two different prints is key to this project.

I have 4 aprons that I got the fabric for 2.5 years ago, that still haven't been made. I really need to get them done - that's about all I'll have for Christmas gifts! Like the napkins! And I'm still thinking about that sweater... I think we should have a knit-along!
