enjoy the mud squishing beneath your boots. We have had NO RAIN in this part of California for the whole month of December, but 17 days at least below freezing, the orange groves have been using their wind machines nightly trying to save the oranges from freezing. Forecast is still for no rain for rest of the month, the small amount of rain in November got the grass to sprout but there is no green left since the grass has frozen, even the surrounding hillsides are still brown. I had hoped by now the Dorpers and the Cows would be on pasture and not needing to be fed hay. Hay stack is dwindling fast.
We've had a very dry December - there is no snow on the ground. I'm sure some must be coming at some point, but I have to say I'm kind of enjoying this mild (so far) winter.
We were enjoying a dry, cold December (the driest on on record!) until Christmas Day, so I really shouldn't complain about the weather now. I got in a ride yesterday morning before the downpour started; maybe if it pours for weeks on end I won't feel quite as bad about Russell leaving.
I certainly enjoyed our cold dryspell, just can't bring myself to say anything nice about the rain, the wind and the mud. First rainy day and Harley had a full blown battle with a fence...took out about 60 feet of fencing and 3 steel T-posts bent over. Poor guy, sure wish I could figure out a way to keep him from harm. :( But, I'm thankful the posts were capped and it wasn't any worse. Oh, and as always...thankful for Banamine.
I enjoyed it, too, Lorie, but I know we wouldn't have the grass and trees and fruit, etc., we so enjoy here if we didn't get the rain. I've in much colder, hotter, drier and more humid climes than here over the years, and I have to say I'll take Willamette Valley weather over all the others ANY day!
Unusual Wisconsin winter so far. I know the bad stuff will come, but it has been mild so far. Since the 7 inches on November 9, we have only had an inch or so. All is gone now except on the north side of buildings and hills. Enjoying it while it lasts.
On Monday and Tuesday we had about two inches of rain; on Wednesday we had about 3 inches of snow. I'm all for freezing weather as the rain as left it a boot-sucking mess around here. I cannot remember how many times I've walked out of my boots because the mud has held fast. Needless to say, I despise getting my wool socks muddy -smile-. Our water table is currently so high that yesterday the sump pump in our well house came on and sent GALLONS flowing out and down the driveway!
Its a bit damp here as well :-)

I would say, "Squish! Whoosh!" Downpours and high winds. Lovely winter weather - not.
