One of Rick's clients invited us to the Oregon Draft Horse Plowing Exhibition and Competition this weekend, so on Sunday we drove over to watch him and the other participants for awhile. While all 19 teams from the plowing competition the day before were not present, there was still plenty to do - and plenty to watch!
Two teams of mules were still plowing....
Several teams were disking....
Others were harrowing....
And this speedy team of Percheron crosses was drilling oats after everyone else got the ground prepped....
Don't worry, everyone got occasional rest breaks....
This fellow was keeping his eye on that strange-looking foo-foo dog and his city-folk owners!
That's it for now from . . .

Beautiful horses ... and mules, too, of course. I sometimes wish for doing farm chores with horse power, but I know how much work that is, too.

Just great! We need more of that in this world!
Wonderful pictures - gorgeous horses, but oh my, I wouldn't want to have lived that way of life. I'll have to tease Mim. She raises miniature horses, goats and pigs. I wonder what she means by "more"....
I love draft horses! Beautiful photos :)
Incredible photos, Michelle.
Beautiful pictures, Michelle!
(How's Brava doing today?)
Yes, like Kathy, I'd like to know how Brava is doing.
I love the photos of the draft horses and the donkeys. We have a neighbor that adopted two burros after some jerk dumped them out here and they wandered around for two weeks eating what they could find, which isn't much. He named them Romulus and Remus and they never cease to put a smile on my face.
Thanks for all the great photos.
Beautiful pictuers - I'll have to make sure The Shepherd gets to see them. We used to go to the LYnden plowing match all the time but havent been in a couple of years. There are 8 or 9
6-horse hitches of draft horses here in the county so there are always lots to look at.
Hope your little ewe is doing OK. T.
That way of plowing fields may be making a comeback if gas prices keep climbing!
Wonderful pictures - I've always wanted to learn how to drive a team. Perhaps another year.
