Simply irresistible

On the way home from running errands in Salem this afternoon, I saw a field of sunflowers. Like the honeybees and bumblebees, I was irresistibly drawn to them. You never know what you capture until the memory card is uploaded to the computer; the full-field shots I got were so-so, but I loved some of the close-ups I got. Since I couldn't choose, you get to see them all. Which one do you like best? (Click on any to biggify.)

How about a give-away? Leave a comment saying which four photos are your favorites, and when we get back from our weekend horse-camping trip I'll choose a commenter at random to win a set of four photo notecards.

P.S. Did I plant another earworm in anyone? Hee!

Raindrops on roses

You are fortunate, dear readers, that I used up my available time and brain power to make this collage, or this post could have resulted in another song stuck on "replay" in your mind ala Monday's post!

HA! It's "too late . . . Ethel" (name THAT song!); here are some more twisted lyrics to go with today's photos:
Bright 'copper' kettle with pear butter stewin'

Brown wooly packages standing there chewin'

Bay colored ponies with nothing to do . . .

These are a few of my favorite things at . . .

Woof

Have I mentioned lately how much I love this dog? Last night he left the property when I let him out to do his business before bedtime, and I fought a bit of panic when he didn't recall right away. Then this morning he wasn't himself, and I became worried that he got into something while he was out. He's perked back up, though (cue sigh of relief).

Although Brian has Jackson to play with, sometimes my rough and tumble, almost-eight-year-old boy shows his soft side. Last week he was toting this around:That's a basket with containing a blanket and a dark brown puppy he got as baby gifts, and a stuffed bulldog a dear friend gave me.

I've got sunshine on a cloudy day

Got a tractor rented, so there's no time to play.

Well, I guess you'll say
What can make me feel this way?
Manure. (Composed manure)
Talkin' 'bout manure. (Manure)

(My tongue-in-cheek apologies to the Temptations.)

That's the "scoop" for now from . . .
