On the last day of August we got RAIN! Such bounty in summer is unusual for us, and oh, so welcome.
Nice of the rain to stop long enough for me to bathe Stella, haul to the fairgrounds and get everything unloaded Thursday afternoon. It rained again as we rode to the warm-up arena before our class, but that just added 'sparkles' to our outfit. The coordinator for Team Morgan took our photo before we went in the show ring (we all had the Morgan saddle cloths and neck ribbons to distinguish us):
There were only three breed teams this year (Morgans, mules, and Saddlebreds), so the show ring wasn't nearly as crowded as it was last year. Stella was much better, too, at times truly looking the part of the dressage representative on the team. I got to wear my recently refurbished shadbelly (now lined and pointed with blue to coordinate with my cravat and Stella's browband and saddle pad). Rick and Brian were there to watch (and confirm that Stella was much better), along with a friend and her family. Rick took photos and video with his phone, but what I've seen is blurry. Still, here is proof that Team Morgan won the Battle Between Breeds again!
We got a bit more rain yesterday before Rick and I headed down to the Fair in the evening and after this rainbow. Lots of lightning visible throughout the evening, but it was all too distant for thunder. Again, quite unusual weather for us!
I'm going with Rick again tonight, so there will be one more post full of Fair photos to come. You've been warned. 😉

Just catching up on your blog. Thanks for the fair pictures, they are wonderful!! I love the felted ladies as their expressions are priceless. Congratulations on Poppy’s wins, dog training takes a lot of work. Looking forward to more pics.

That's really nice that you got some rain. We got some, too, on two different days. I'm not sure what our total was.
May son and daughter-in-law are at the State Fair today. We haven't gone for way too long. I enjoyed your Fair pictures and looking forward to seeing more.
Oh, Well Done You!! And Stella!! You both look fabulous! Been wishing for some rain here that isn't a deluge, which is what seems to be happening this summer. Even those have been few and far between this year. It's been so dry that there aren't even any mosquitos, which are normally a staple of any Midwestern summer.
We got a bit of rain here, too. And you and Stella look fabulous!
