Blue and scattered

No, I'm not talking about my state of mind (though – just maybe – I could be), but about happenings around the farm.

Two of Spangle's eggs with one of Kate's and an Olive-Egger's from weeks ago.
Spangle has joined Kate in giving us fresh eggs! We've gotten three blue beauties so far since she started laying on Monday, and these inside shots do not do the color justice. I'm thinking of blowing them out and making them into Christmas tree ornaments. I had a few eggshell ornaments my mom had made when we first got married, but they've all broken over the years and I think it would be fun to fill an egg carton with new ones, either plain (if you can call that pretty shade 'plain') or painted, maybe with sparkly snowflakes. Who knows, Brian might even want them someday when he has a home and family of his own; I guess stranger things have happened.

Falling leaves, flying dog and fog
A long-neglected treehouse built in more innocent times
The Ram-ada Inn, with Bridget to the right side

Rick already blew the arena clean once
The rain-blurred view from my bedroom window
The big leaf maples have been dropping their drawers, but today's wind and rain really accelerated things. Now to find a dry day to blow them off the gravel and out of the arena!

Fall leaves and daylight hours may be falling fast, but the sun still rises – sometimes spectacularly, like yesterday morning:

That's it for now from . . .

Your autumn pictures are so pretty! And congratulations on Spangle. I miss getting a rainbow collection of eggs. They would definitely made pretty Christmas tree ornaments. :)

Seconding Leigh's comment about your autumn pictures. So lovely. Yay for home egg production. And the different colorations truly add eye candy to the mix!

You are having a beautiful autumn. Our colors here are not so great. I did get some good shots of fall at my son’s house, but mostly related to the interaction of the sun and the trees. Not the vibrant colors of red and orange. I plan to blog about it once I am past my current weekend travel posts.

Hope you do the egg decorating for Christmas - and show a bit of it on your blog. Sounds like a wonderful idea.

I know it is hard to imagine your son with a normal future - mature and with a family maybe. I remember those years. I didn’t dare to dream of that for my son until he was into his 30s. It finally happened. There is always hope.

Everything is looking beautiful :-) I love the eggs and will love to see what you do with them if you blow them out!

Thank you, Leigh. Since two of my three surviving pullets are Whiting True Blues, pretty soon MOST of my eggs will be blue!

Mama Pea, I don't think of the bigleaf maples as very colorful, but if you're already in winter tones, I guess they would be.

Elaine, I know you've traveled this road; thanks for pointing to a good possible outcome. Since we would be in our 70s when Brian is in his 30s, I just hope we get to live long enough to see better days! (And if I decorate with pretty blue eggs, I will definitely show them off!)

The Ram-ada Inn does look pretty cozy tucked in the woods, doesn't it, Sara. I've decided to leave the breeding group together, as the two groups of sheep are getting along well and I don't want to upset the apple cart right now.

Thanks, A. I have a lot on my plate but hope to make egg ornaments happen SOMEtime!

Hmmm! I thought I had commented on this one, but...oops!

The eggs are beautiful! I hope you do make some Christmas ornaments with some. I would love to see them! I have seen green eggs, but they weren't as pretty as your blue ones

Your sunrise photos are just spectacular! What a blessing to get to see them.

Love your fall photos, and those eggs would be priceless as ornaments! I have extremely fond memories of blowing eggs with my Grandma. We decorated them for Easter, and Christmas! Wonderful idea ! Hope you have a great weekend!
