I couldn't agree more with Rodger A. Caras, whoever he is. My ability to cope with whatever life throws at me would be far more challenged without a dog in my life. Here's to Poppy, God's current gift to me: you are companion, cuddler, entertainment, eye candy, distraction, motivation, and unconditional love. As I have wished for with every dog who has shared my life, I wish you could live forever. Although when 'forever' comes, I truly expect to see you in a joyous pack of assorted canines dashing over glowing green to meet me. After all, "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of (wo)man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him," 1 Corinthians 2:9. Amen.
For the good dog at . . .

Although it may look like Poppy spends a lot of time napping, the truth is that's just when it is easier (by far!) to get a picture of her!
Got a real kick out of some of those poses Poppy gets into! You have to smile!
That last picture! Wonderful. I have always lived with cats - because my husband is a cat guy. But there is no doubt that dogs are special. They are so in tune with humans. I really enjoyed your pictures.
Thanks for sharing the pictures! I don't think I could make it without a dog. They are the best companions and so loving All the time!
Love the quote and could not agree more-aren't dogs wonderful? Happt Thanksgiving to you and your family.
So, did homo sapiens pick dogs - or did dogs pick us, in the history of time? There are serious debates about that issue. However it spills out, I am another who believes people without pets are less than they could be otherwise. We're not alone on this celestial mudball - we're all in it together and a part of a bigger plan. And my what a pretty dog! Cheers
Poppy's a treasure, but then all "our" critter kids are. Beautiful pics, esp. love the last one - she looks so regal.
Happy Thanksgiving!
WI - D.
Poppy really healed well from getting stepped on as a puppy. I love seeing the photos of her.
I'm so glad she brings you so much joy.
I love all the pictures, especially the videos! Poppy is quite a character, isn't she?! I always get a chuckle out of all the contortions dogs can twist themselves into!!
I'm home again!
A companion with Personality Plus! A treat for us all, even across the miles.
I love our cats dearly, and wouldn't be without a feline companion...but I would dearly love a dog to accompany me on my walks. However, Mr FD is firmly against another cat, never mind a dog! I think he might accept it if I brought home one I had found abndoned somewhere, but I am not sure about even that! So I must make do with occasionally taking my friend's elderly dog for a stroll. Not quite as satisfying.
Poppy is an admirable canine companion!
I know MY back wouldn't tolerate a lot of those poses, Mama Pea!
Elaine, I know how much you love your granddogs. 😍
You're welcome, Susan, and I totally concur.
Deb, we had a nice Thanksgiving; I hope you did, too.
I agree, Tim; unless I was deathly allergic to them, I could never be without pets!
Donell, is that you in WI???
A, her leg will never fully recover (it looks different and she favors it when she first gets moving or after a lot of exercise), but it doesn't slow her down. I wonder if it will bother her more with age....
All my dogs have in their turn, Sue. 😊
Glad you're home safely, Jeanne! I'll email you....
I'm glad you enjoy her too, Leigh!
Dormouse, Poppy isn't the easiest exercise companion; she has more strength than a 30 lb. animal should be capable of and wants to smell everything. So I take her on "sniffaries," and sometimes walk by myself when I have a time and distance goal.
