I think I've used that earworm for a title before, no doubt because it fits my life so well. Inspiring sunrises, sunset-reflecting eastern clouds, a son growing – rapidly and rockily (is that word?) – before my eyes; yes, this is a period "laden with happiness and tears." Yesterday was more tears than happiness – the easier to let him go when the time comes, right? ;-)
Given the time and energy required to pilot these waters, showing you pretty pictures is about all I can muster. I hope to tell more about my dad's surprise visit, but may only get as far as covering the "dressage show chapter" of the story over on my Dances With Horses blog. For now, you get a rainbow and almost sunset clouds from yesterday, and this morning's sunrise progression (before it fogged up, and eventually started raining), all SOOC.
That's it for now from . . .

Sounds like a tough time to be a mom. The hardest job in the world.
Well, FWIW, we are here rooting for you both to get through this crappy period. How did the school look you visited last week?
You do get the most glorious skies! We've had grey for a few days and spitting snow. Typical spring weather, thank god. We need as wet as we can get. But no tears please! Hugs, Theresa
I do hope the school for Brian works out for all concerned. No matter how much you may want to homeschool, for various reasons, there can be periods when it's simply not appropriate or profitable for one or both of you.
I know personally of an early high school aged son who had been homeschooled since first grade, was not doing well and his mom was miserable trying to work with him. His mom felt he wouldn't be able to cope in the school system because of his lack of initiative and the fact that he was substantially behind academically. Out of desperation, they decided to give it a try this year and . . . you guessed it. He has pulled himself up by the proverbial boot straps and is doing great.
Maybe there are just stages where it's simply best for the child and mother to change the relationship for a while.
It would have been nice if there was more "truth in advertising," RK!
Theresa, the school looks like a possibility. Brian liked it, although he says his first choice is to continue homeschooling - ?!?
I agree with you, Mama Pea, but Brian has two parents....
Send rain here, please... and.... praying for you still (and Brian!)
Oh wow, those red sunsets (?) are phenomenal. Just breathtaking! Michelle, just give thanks that you don't have 2 or 3 or 4 "Brians". :)
