Melange

Dessert First
Yesterday there was a fat little package in my mailbox. I was expecting a book that I had won in a giveaway by Romi Hill (the book contains her Tanis shawl pattern); I wasn't expecting the two lovely skeins of yarn she included as a special treat!
Later that day while getting more firewood, another special gift caught my eye:
Unexpected gifts are like dessert – totally unnecessary but oh, so sweet!

Lovin' Handful
Thanks, Kelly, for telling me the way to this ewe's heart. (Even though food is not my taming method of choice, I'm not above using bribes!)  (-;

Speaking of Food, Feast Your Eyes on THIS
This, my friends, was my most excellent breakfast this morning – homemade bread, reduced fat Dubliner cheese, and a garden tomato. That's right; it's January 9, and I just ate the last tomato from our garden.

And for lunch, I had some fresh garden carrots (these are from the rainbow row):
If any of you in colder climes are inclined to tar and feather me at this point, I might have to follow Oreo's example. Ha!

That's it for now from . . .

We had some good-as-fresh carrots for munchies with dip yesterday but they sure weren't from the garden up here in frozen Minnesota! They were from our root cellar where, I'm happy to say, they've been keeping perfectly.

Not a garden tomato in sight though. Sigh. ;o)

Oh my goodness, those fresh vegetables look so good! I'm a little jealous, alright, as I look out over snow-covered ground embraced by freezing temps.

The yarn and the new pattern book...oooo, what a treat!

Hooray! Snowdrops! Hopefully we'll be seeing seeing some here in England soon. It's gone very mild here but we've had some strong winds. Lovely to receive the book but that yarn looks beautiful. Love the rainbow row carrots! X

Oh, you've got snowdrops already???!!!

Thank you for the Birthday Card. The honeysuckle reminds me of summer - Always seems like such a long time away on these cold January days. Thanks for thinking of me :-) XOX T.

Snowdrops AND tomatoes? Seems like one couldn't ask for more than that....and then you get bonus yarn! You must be feeling rather charmed. :) Love Dubliner cheese.

What a lovely mix of photos. I love snowdrops, as they seem so hopeful, there amidst the cold and snow. Mind you, we've ghad such mild weather that there are already buds and laburnum (I think) showing. I do hope they won't end up getting a nasty shock!
