So I sit in the Sheep Sheraton and love on my ladies. Bramble is unafraid, but not much for cuddling; Annabelle, who came from a hands-off farm in late middle age, prefers to get up close and personal with alfalfa in her corner pen. But Sarai, daughter Bali, Marta, and daughter Blaise crowd round, Bali jumping up on me or others if she isn't getting all the attention. Meanwhile, Vienna stands at a distance, watching.
I have a two-pronged approach to making pets of my Shetlands. The first prong is to spend time in close proximity, quietly talking, sometimes singing. The second prong is to catch any scaredy-cats and "force myself upon them" so to speak, gently stroking and scritching all the spots likely to become favorites. This has never failed to win them over sooner rather than later, as they discover that I produce pleasure, not pain, with my presence.

Vienna will come around. They always do. ;-)
That's it for today from . . .

Yes, good to hear that "they always do" come around. Who can ignore love?
Love the photo of Vienna! My two Icelandics are love bugs (until I need to do something, like drench or trim hooves). Norman was stand-offish but he is coming around, too. They will not be able to resist all the love!
I love this post... kindness will usually win everyone over, sooner or later!
Good luck with her!
Oh yes, they always do and what a blessing it is! The only ones I've ever failed to win over were some of my bucks. But then, bucks are handled less and usually have something else on their minds anyway.
She's really quite sweet, and generally friendly because I halter trained and tamed her for showing her as a lamb. She probably isn't comfortable enough with the gals AND you to chance it. lol A grain bucket is her weakness.
