When our ram jumped the fence in mid winter, we ended up with four new lambs. He missed his mum, but bred a half sibling. She turned out a sweet and beautiful and verra friendly little ewe.

Oops, at least you can keep an eye on the calendar.
Oops ;-)
At least they will be very attractive lambs! The best laid plans...OR...if there's a will, he will find a way. And he did. :)
Oh, Barbados, you devil you.
Is it my imagination, or does he have a smirk on his face? ;o)
I've never had lambs in early February even when I've tried for them, so I'm hoping this won't be the first time.
Yep; good thing I had the window open and wasn't sleeping....
That is true, but if he got his sisters or dam, they would be VERY inbred.
It really wasn't his fault; I didn't properly latch his gate after scritching Benny. :-(
I can tell where YOUR mind went, Mama Pea. ;-) That photo was taken well before he got his lucky break!
Laughing WITH you!
Son to Dam is ok, brother/sister is not so ok, half-sib matings are generally ok. If it works, it's line breeding; if not it's inbreeding.

How old is he? He might have been practicing...
What an Oops! Fingers crossed that February proves to be lamb free.
Are you sure you're not laughing with Barbados, Mary Ann? ;-)
I'll keep that in mind, Laura. (He's five months old.) Interesting that son to dam is "OK"!
Sherry, I just hope he didn't get old Annabelle.
Sewbeezy, I've never been successful in getting my Shetlands bred early enough for February lambs, so I'm thinking we're safe. Time will tell!
Ooops. I hope you get a lucky break...no lambs in Feb. But I bet they would be beautiful.
