I had already taken a bunch of photos and was mentally composing a post about my parents' visit (sadly, now over) when I headed to the barn late this afternoon to ride Lance. I paused to snap a few more shots in the golden light,
then stopped by the henhouse to collect eggs. As I crossed the drive between the henhouse and the barn, a sheep in the Ram-ada Inn's lot caught my eye. Wait a minute; that sheep –
those sheep – aren't IN the lot!
RUH ROH.
I could hardly believe that the
(temporary, jury-rigged) fence was still standing; the two rams still separated. I grabbed Browning by a scur and started leading/dragging him to the Sheep Sheraton, and incredibly, Blake followed, leaving Nightcap and the ladies. There was no point in putting them back in the horse stall; I knew good and well who the culprit was, and he would strike again.
In all fairness to Lance, I think Brian forgot to fasten the chain this morning.
That's it for now from . . .

beautiful dahlias. I love it
It pays to make rounds frequently!!! And I have to agree about the beauty of the dahlias. :)
Ooops. Good thing no harm was done!
Your flowers are always beautiful.
Ruh roh is right! Love the dahlias and fall foliage! Glad you were able to get things sorted out quickly and without any more surprises...
Good to see that Lance hasn't lost his touch....
What a boy!
Michelle,
Beautiful pictures! Good thing you were walking around.
Yes, the dahlias are such a wonderful splash of late-season color – and the deer don't eat them! And I'm SO glad Franna's ram (or mine) wasn't hurt, and I don't have to do paternity testing on any lambs. Blake and Browning couldn't have been out very long; the fence took one good hit while I was out there and it wouldn't have taken many more to give way.
Yes Shelly, Lance is still a goober. ;-)
there are few things that can cause my heart to both stop and beat faster than seeing loosed animals. So glad you were able to corral them with no injury to them or you.
