This morning I'm going to the processor's to whom I turned over my fleeces at Black Sheep Gathering. Leza's got them all washed and I'm going to hand-tease them to save myself some money (she doesn't run Shetland through the picker; the prime reason I selected her). I plan to pick up my roving at the Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival the last Sunday of this month.
To help me pay the invoice, I'm offering a pre-pick-up roving sale. You buy and pay for it BEFORE I pick it up, and you get it for $2/ounce. After I pick it up, I will be offering it for $3/ounce. (Prices do not include shipping.) The available colors are Dinah's white, Rechel's or Bella's light grey, or Valentine's fawn.
Want to win some FREE roving? Here's the contest: I'll send 8 oz. of roving to the person who comes closest to guessing how many pounds of roving I get from the processor - your choice of color! You have from now until pick-up to put your guess in the comments of this post.
That's it for now at . . .

Shoot! I wish I was not on the stash busting wagon because I would love some of the grey :-( I'll take a guess, though, because if I won that wouldn't really count as buying fiber, right? :-D
I think you're going to pick up 47.8 pounds of clean stuff!!
Hi! I'll take a guess... let's see, 9lbs 11oz.! And I'll think about buying- $ shortage!
Alice, Va.
taking into consideration shetlands are quite small, after skirting and washing, I am going to say lol 9 lbs 14 oz... yes I did that with a calculator!
How exciting, picking up all that clean, prepared wool!
I'm going to guess 8 lbs, 8 oz.
OOOO! I'd love some of that Beautiful Bella's silvery/grey! How about 7 pounds/11 oz. or 8 pounds/ 6 oz?
I'll take a chance and say you'll pick up 10.5 pounds. Then I'll go buy my winning lottery ticket, too! Sorry, can't buy...I'm on a fiber diet for now. Can't buy till I spin everything I've got stashed!
I am going out on a limb here and guessing that a :-) meant to type 7.8?
A contest, what fun! Okay, I will take a guess, 10 pounds 1 ounce. If I win give it to the next closest, I will have roving coming out my ears as of this weekend when I pick mine up. I want to spin some of my old stuff up to get ready, the first skein I do after I haven't spun in a while is always interesting.
Okay, I'll guess 14 lb of roving. I'm waiting to hear how it all comes out.

Kara, if you come the closest I could send you a set of photo notecards if you'd like!
That would be great! Now you have me wondering how much I will get back. I sent in 30 pounds of wool and 10 pounds of alpaca. I can't wait.
I'll say 12.5 pounds...
(what, me, random?)
I reread the post, I thought it was for washed and picked wool, but if we are guessing on the finished roving weight I would go lower than I originally guessed. I would say 8lbs finished weight.
I am going to guess 12 lbs 14 oz. Just because.
How many fleeces did you take in for processing?
9 pounds 3 ounces!
I'm going to guess 13 lbs, 2 oz.
I'm going to guess 19.25 pounds! :)
Very cool contest :), can never have enough to spin. I am going to guess 21 lbs, 3 ozs. Someday when I get rich and can have some land, I am going to have a sheep :), not only will it be good company, but I gives fiber too :).
I know that shetland's are not that large, I will guess about 8 lbs. 12 oz. I also cannot afford to buy more at this time, even tho I was sorely tempted.
I[m going to guess 14lbs 7 ounces. I'll be at OFFF !!!!!
I will take a guess even though I have way too much fiber of my own....so I'm thinking that you might be picking up about 10 pounds 8 ounces.
I do hope you get quite a bit of it sold. I have way too much fiber here (13 Shetland fleeces alone) to even think about buying any....although I wish I could. And I did get a new llama last weekend. More fiber on the hoof. :)
um, how about, you are picking up 20 pounds of clean stuff!
Hhhmmmm.... I am going to guess 27 pounds.
I'll guess 11 lbs & 4 oz.
I'm going to guess 13 lbs 7 oz. This is such a fun contest!
My guess would be 27.5 lbs. I would love to win but may buy 'just a little' just in case.

Based on the four names in the three color catagories, and after skirting and washing, I would guess 10lbs 12oz.
10 lbs 5 oz :) And if I win, I'll HAVE to get a spinning wheel and learn...lol
I'm going to guess 6 pounds and 5 ounces.
HEY! By the way, I sure hope I win, since you won TWO of my contests!
21 lbs 2 oz
I say that like I actually know how to spin... but I am determined to learn SOMETHING this winter. :) And winning something would be a good motivator!
Hi, I'm new to spinning, working from a Jacobs fleece at the moment but would love to try something else.
My guess is 17lbs 4oz.
Susan
OK, I'm breaking down and putting in a guess - those fleeces you keep photographing are mouthwateringly delicious looking.
I'm guessing 13 lbs, 7 oz.
Fingers crossed.
I can't resist a contest! My guess is 9 lbs 9oz. I've done this very scientifically--the most eggs my hens have laid in a day is 9. That makes 9 my lucky number for now.
