Frozen delight

For the first time in a week and a half, we awoke this morning to a thawed world; woot! All the vegetation, which was looking quite dessicated by the prolonged cold, has perked up, and my nose and skin feel better, too. Later today I'll turn the horses out into the thawing arena to romp and roll – well, just Lance and Ollie, because we're treating Breezy for a hind-leg lameness.
But not everything is thawed yet. I've had this pumpkin on the front porch since last month, planning to cook it up for pumpkin puree. Oh well; it will not go to waste. I took it down to the chickens, much to their delight. Frozen as it is, it should give them hours – if not days – of pecking pleasure.

Eating our veggies, at . . .

They'll love it once it thaws out! It'll be all squishy and fun to poke!

Hope Breezy is ok!

Heck, our chickens wouldn't eat a pumpkin unless it was chunked apart. And maybe cooked. And pureed. With a little whipped cream on top.

Well, now I know what to do with my old Halloween pumpkin. I've never given them a pumpkin. They like all kinds of veggies so I will present them with the pumpkin and see what they think.
My chickydoodles are kind of like Mama Pea's chickens. I don't know how this is going to go down. They are kind of picky and get an attitude if they think we aren't catering to them. LOL! We'll see what happens.

Laura, Breezy is on the mend. The apparent cause is crazy. I'll call you….

Mama Pea and Farmlady, maybe your chickens just need a pretty blue plastic toboggan serving tray? ;-)

I would never have guess that chickens would enjoy a good ol' pumpkin. How about that?! What a great idea, though.
