On standby

My parents are in need of some physical assistance. With lambing looming (but hopefully not until early March), I figured I'd better go as soon as possible, so last night I secured a ticket to Texas for the middle of this month.

This morning a co-worker texted me. Our boss and her family were driving, hit black ice, and flipped; all I know so far is that my boss has a broken back. This may necessitate taking on more responsibility at the office for a bit; the Texas trip may have to be postponed. If only I could be cloned. I know my husband would like that; he starts moaning and groaning about A-L-L that he'll have to do if I make plans to be gone, even for a weekend. 🙄

Chuckie says loving on him should be FIRST on every list:

Oh, and happy February from . . .

I hope that you co worker is OK and it is not as serious as it sounds. I did not know that your parents lived in Texas or had sheep. Are you from Texas...

Marlane, it's my boss that has a broken back. Yes, my parents live in Texas (up in the Panhandle), but they don't have sheep; I do. I lived there several of my adolescent years, and made many happy horse memories there!

Well, drat and darn, Michelle. You didn't need this extra added stress right now. (Not that there's ever a good time for added responsibilities.) Say prayers for those who need you, but know the situation(s) may change in the next week or so. Hang in there. Sending hugs to you.

I'm so sorry to hear of your boss's accident. I hope he has the best outcome possible. Best wishes to your parents too. Hugs, dear girl, as you juggle.

Gosh, to quote a trite phrase that is true none the less - when it rains it pours. Thank goodness you have a tuxedo cat that is doing his best to make you happy! :-)

Michelle, I'm so sorry about all this. It has to be difficult for you, and all those involved. I'm praying especially for your boss - a broken back has to be very painful. My brother-in-law fell from the roof of their house. and had to wear a big body brace for a long time. I pray that you will be able to bear up under all this stress, and also for your parents in their time of need.

I love your pictures of Chuckie - especially the last one, where he's lying on his back and looking up at you! Too cute!

Hugs!

To paraphrase Shakespeare a little: "When troubles come they come not as thieves in the night, but as roaring hoards of thundering cavalry." Or something like that.

I feel for you. Take it one step at a time. And as my Grandma used to tell me, "Don't borrow trouble."

Cheers and prayers.

Thanks to all of you for your support. No more news on my boss or her family; don't know if that is good, terrible, or what. Hard to wait and wonder, especially since I tend to be more of a "Lead, follow, or get out of the way" type person. Since all the important elements of my life seem to conspire against that tendency, perhaps learning to wait patiently is my greatest test.

Chuckie is onto something. Petting cats (and dogs!) lowers your blood pressure and releases all kinds of stress-relieving hormones. With all the pressure you're under, a good cat-scritching session could be just what the doctor ordered. Take care, and remember you can't take care of others if you don't take good care of you.

It’s terrible to hear about your Boss… sorry for their family. That Little Rock Star is the perfect medicine! Love that little Chuckie! Thank you for sharing all his little heart full of love! Sending prayers for your folks, and that you can get there soon!

You really are getting it from all sides... I'm so sorry about your boss. I know that means lots of extra work for you, and not being able to get to Texas must weigh heavy on your mind. I love the Chuckie photos and am glad he helps you get through all of this. Sending hugs and prayers.

You can translate all the moaning and groaning by your husband into - OMG you do so much for us! My thoughts are with you, your boss and family and your parents. It's not easy trying to juggle all those balls, especially not at a distance. Hopefully, all will be well and come out in the wash, as my mother used to say. Sending you a giant hug, dear friend. xo

Take time with Chuckie - he knows that cuddles help. On the other problems, well, I hope things sort themselves out. As one of my painted pebbles said: Things will get better: maybe not today, but eventually. Which may, or may not, be helpful!

Amanda, wyomingheart, Mokihana, and Allison: our animals really do help, as well as all your prayers. And Susan, I will TRY to take Rick's complaints as compliments, but it's not easy. I know you've had to juggle a lot, too, so you know that of which you speak. Thanks for the giant hug!
