Today I got my second COVID shot, and my leg was set free! The doctor was surprised I complied with his orders (???), cut the compression wrap off, pronounced me healed, and sent me off with no further restrictions. Feeling liberated, I 'celebrated' by going to work for a bit to catch up and then getting groceries. After going home and putting things away, I got to do chores and see all my animals, which have all been well cared for by DH.
Tomorrow, the clean-up begins at . . .

Well the answer is simple to the doctor’s comment - he either knows you well (a hard worker) or the population in general doesn’t comply. My guess is the latter! Its amazing how many times doctor’s advice is ignored. I worked in the health care field for a long time. It is common place. Glad you are doing better. I bet your animals were glad to see you. “Dads” can take care of the basics, but nothing can replace “moms.” I bet your husband is happy you are fully functional again.
Good news all around! A relief, to be sure, and well worth celebrating!
I don't doubt you feel you have a new lease on life now, Michelle. (So hard to keep a good woman down.) But you did what needed to be done which allowed your body to heal the way it could/should/did!
Elaine, he actually said, "But NO one listens to me" when I responded to his surprise by saying, "Well, you SAID to leave it on for two weeks!" Which shows that he doesn't know me, because I AM a rule-follower by and large, unless there is a moral reason to disobey (God over country).
I won't be celebrating TOO vigorously today, Leigh; the second shot has me a lot more achey than the first. But this, too, shall pass (quickly!).
Mama Pea, considering the other options used to treat a lesion like mine, wearing a compression wrap for two weeks was a walk in the park I would willingly take to avoid the others. MUCH less expensive, too!
(And it didn't end up being two weeks; woot!)
See, it could be done and now you've been turned loose. I'm glad, but don't overdo yourself. It may have been only two weeks but it does make a difference.
Yay!!! So glad to hear that the doc signed off on you :-) That's excellent news. Congrats on getting your second shot!!!
Thanks, Sue; I WAS worried about how much condition I'd lose at my age from sitting around for two weeks (although it ended up being less). I haven't tried going for a brisk 2-3 mile walk yet, but I couldn't tell that I'd lost any strength with all the moving around (passed my daily step goal of 12,000) yesterday.
Thanks, A!
Congratulations!
Michelle, I'm so glad to know that you are back to doing your normal routine! And that you've had your second COVID injection! Just don't overdo things!
I feel blessed to have gotten my first vaccine! It couldn't have been easier, just a drive-thru right here in our small town! I'm still not how they managed to get that much of the Moderna vaccine!
I still must keep my leg elevated most of the time, or it swells terribly. It'll be three weeks tomorrow, since I fell.
