In addition to Poppy's penchant for posies,
she also savors the seedheads of pasture grasses!
She is a dog who is interested in everything, and is especially keen on the other creatures on our place. You've seen her with Chuckie;
she'd like to play like that with the chickens and sheep, too. That, of course, would likely end badly; good thing I still keep her on lead (mostly because our front gate is still not working). But the other day when Poppy was zooming the boys in the wooded lot, Bing slowly approached and joy of joys, she got to meet one of the objects of her desire. She was entirely appropriate, too, sniffing noses politely and quietly.
This afternoon Poppy asked to go outside. The ewes were close to the fence and Poppy wanted to go see them; most of them were pretty interested in her, too. Unlike Bing, most of my girls would flatten Poppy if given the chance; only Bernadette seemed curious. Vienna and Sarai both bashed Jackson; interesting that the three adult daughters of those two ewes are equally dog-aggressive. I took some short videos, too, but haven't gotten those uploaded yet.
And yes, Poppy could totally squeeze under that fence. 😳
That's it for now from . . .

Poppy IS such a bright and inquisitive dog . . . which makes her all the more fun to have around, I'm sure. After having her foot/leg stepped on by one of your big, four-legged creatures (it was Lance, wasn't it?), how is she around them? Or don't you let her get anywhere near them? Wonder if she remembers that incident?
Mama Pea, she has started showing interest in meeting Lance nose-to-nose over the stall door, which impressed me. Then the other day Brian was leading through the pasture where the horses were and she pulled Brian TOWARDS the horses; that's concerning!
Poppy is such a character. Wants to make friends with everything! Glad to see her doing so well with her cast off.
Those are cute pictures! Poppy certainly is a character! I've never understood why dogs want to eat grass. I've heard several reasons, or maybe they were just opinions...
I would be really concerned about her if she were off the lead. She's such a little busybody!
She has really grown a lot. Is she walking better?
Maybe she's a sheepdog after all ;-)
What great Poppy and sheep photos. You can almost see what they're all thinking! My does wouldn't be very impressed with a stranger wanting to play, either. The bucks on the other hand ...
Awww, she's a lovely dog! What a grand series of pictures.
