Hobbling through the week

Eight-year-old Browning is looking less robust to me this year. Maybe it's just the bad haircut and grey nose. Hope so; he's Brian's sheep and one of our friendliest.

Sarai and Bramble are the only sheep here still wearing their winter woollies – and Sarai is dragging hers! I need to get her rooed ASAP (and get busy skirting the other nine fleeces), but right now I'm physically incapable of that.

If you don't read my horse blog, then you don't know I've been on the injured list since Monday afternoon. The sheep photos were taken before the wreck. Not that I'm sitting on the couch eating bonbons, I'm just moving a LOT more slowly and carefully than usual, and can't do much that involves bending over, twisting, or lifting. Bending over and using two hands? No can do. (Yes, I have had to get one or the other of my guys to put my socks on.)

But life goes on, even if riding and some tasks are shelved for the time being. Homeschooling continues to take the lion's share of my time and energy – as it should, really. Call me cheering squad and cattle prod. It remains to be seen if we will be repeating some subjects this summer – and what we do next school year.  :-/

I'm hoping to do posts covering the last two weekends soon. Revisiting good times should give me a boost.

That's it for now from . . .

So glad to hear that you're okay, Michelle, although okay is the relative word. Yes, could have been so much worse. So much. I guess it just goes to show that even an experienced rider as you are can have the unexpected happen and although you have several hindsight thoughts of what you might have done but didn't, I'd say you should give yourself a lot of credit for handling the situation as you did. Wow. Kinda scary.

Michelle... I'm so sorry to hear about The Reason Keith Won't let Me Ride Anymore. It's a pain in so many ways, and I hope your horse is okay. I'll go check.

Sorry to hear you're in some difficulties at the moment. Look after yourself and enjoy the bonbons (but not too many!) I always knew horses were big scary things!

I'm so sorry Michelle. That falls (pun intended) into the "It could have been worse" category and yes, thank goodness for helmets. I've never heard of anyone experience a broken rein but obviously it happens - so thankful that bruises are the extent of your injuries. I'll bet Brian had a little scare. Mom is mortal!

Gosh Michelle, I had no idea you'd taken a fall. Rick never tells me anything! So glad to hear that it wasn't worse, but sorry it happened to you. That's my greatest fear with riding Eagle out on trails and such, is that he can spin and bolt with amazing speed and power. Not sure I could sit that anymore. Hope you feel much better really soon, but...take your time when it comes to admitting that to your "boys". :)
