Trying to smell the "roses"

It has been another long, hard slog of a day. On top of trying to keep my cool despite the heaping helping of adolescent attitude I was served pretty much non-stop, I have a sore throat. Pffft.

So let's look at pretty flower pictures, shall we? Okay!

This dahlia has been blooming its heart out all season, unlike some who only see fit to grace us with ONE bloom per year.
On the other side of the house, my sole geranium has beautified the deck with its "apple blossom" blooms.

Your dahlia is beautiful! Dahlias have been my favorite flower for as long as I can remember. Such variety to be had!

Ah. . . . "adolescent attitude". . . I remember it oh so well. Amazingly, my adolescent with attitude turned into a 36 year old man with a huge heart and lovely soul. Don't worry, this too, shall pass!

Hope your sore throat doesn't turn into anything more than that. Be good to yourself; rest, rest, rest! (I know, impossible to do, but maybe you could.....just a bit?)

Warm Regards, Lisa in Lake Oswego

Grab a vile zinc lozenge and then a bit. C one and fingers crossed on the throat front too! No help here on the attitude front, I was the giver, not the receiver....

I'm out of lozenges, but I've been pumping the zinc and C tablets, Theresa!

I know I was a challenge, too, Theresa, but I would NEVER have treated my mother the way Brian treats me. She keeps telling me he'll grow up whether he wants to or not; I'm just not sure how to survive the intervening years....

For a long time dahlias were off my radar, but I've come to love and appreciate them in recent years. Variety, beauty, repeat performances, and the big seller for me – deer don't eat them!

Honestly, how do parents survive these years? I know there are differences in kids AND parents; the nastiness that hurts me so deeply doesn't bother my husband nearly as much....

Unfortunately, my throat kept me from sleeping much of the night. I'm hoping against hope I might get a wee nap in this afternoon. Thank-you so much for your kind words; they are a needed balm to my soul.

Sambucol for virus illness; it has helped keep me healthy for almost 5 years...only 1 bout of illness since Dec 2010.

Thanks for the recommendation, Sandra; I hadn't heard of that before but I'm going to pick some up ASAP!

I have never grown a dahlia, and how well I remember the boys at pre-teen and teen years. Your dahlia and geraniums are beautiful!
