Mr. Lumix and I captured the photo of Bramble above back in February and I posted it
here.
Kelly saw it and prompted me to enter it in the Midwest Shetland Sheep Breeders Association show's photography contest, so I did. Decided to enter it in Wisconsin Sheep & Wool Festival's and Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival's photo contests as well. It earned ribbons everywhere it went, and a little cash, too. Then, just for kicks, I submitted it to
Wovember's international photo competition. I learned yesterday that it placed third, earning a nice little voucher to
Shearer Girl Yarns' online shop. Wow!
After all this photo has done for me this year, I figured it deserved top billing in my revamped blog header.

There's nothing like a little positive affirmation to motivate you to do more of whatever earned it. So here are some photos I took yesterday while working in the kitchen. I'm very happy with them, considering I was using Mr. Lumix's zoom function through my dirty windows! Love my camera!
Plus a bonus shot of the moon last night:
That's it for now from . . .

Those are beautiful photos! Enter more contests!
I think Bramble could be the start of a new business, Note Cards, T-Shirts, Calendars, etc. Nice camera, all I get shooting thru my windows is dirt and cobwebs, LOL. Love the bird shots with the snow. Check out blogs of Texwisgirl and BJKimages they have fantastic photos too. Love Sara's (CSL) photos too, she gets lots of nice shots with snow and fog.
What a beautiful photograph of Bramble! It's not just the camera, my dear. You have a very good sense of design and texture!
Very nice. Congratulations!
That's 'my' girl!!! I'm so glad Bramble is 'earning her keep,' since you are disappointed in her not being able to conceive. I agree - mugs, tees, totes, the whole shebang!! I know you don't do Facebook, but I have friended several artists (mostly in Scotland) who have a tidy little business on the side with less! There might be a printer in KY who could help you out. :-)
Yep, you have "the eye". Great shots!
Thanks, 13 Sheep! I don't think most of my photos are contest-worthy; I follow many blogs whose writers are much better photographers than I am (like Sara at Punkin's Patch, referred to by Tombstone as CSL). Bramble's photo was both a 'lucky' shot and a specialty subject suitable for entry in fiber venues.
TL, I think the market for sheep merchandise is relatively small, and the costs aren't. I could make some of my photos available on you-print-and-pay sites, but they tend to be pretty expensive.
Thank-you, Susan. The camera helps, though! ;-)
Thanks, Lorie! My little sheep add so much to my life.
Deb, yes, my not-fine freemartin girl is earning her keep in surprising ways!
Kelly, this photo's great showing this year is all because YOU prompted me to enter it at Jefferson. THANK-YOU!
That's a great shot. I love the texture of the wool matching the texture of the tree. Congrats!!!
Glad you caught the moon last night too. Seemed like an odd tilt and an odd location last night, but I didn't think to take a picture. You captured it perfectly!
What a pretty squirrel! We only have the big red ones in the Midwest (that I know of) and while I have a few neighborhood favorites, they're known as tree rats by the phone repair guys. My phone lines have only been chewed through three times in 10 years :)
There were two squirrels this summer who were so pathetic ( in a cute way). During the drought when it was around 100F for a couple of weeks, these two would be spread eagled on the concrete driveway in the morning when it was a bit cooler from the night-time temps. They looked as though they had been run over, and after a couple of days, they didn't even move as I would walk by within six or so feet. Poor things.
Well done, my friend :-)
I am so impressed! What an outstanding shot.
Beautiful pictures! (and well done with all the ribbons!)
Maybe some day soon I'll make up with the ebil Blogger and be allowed to post photos again. T.
I love my Lumix too and am always amazed at some of the pics it gets. Of course, I have yet to capture beauties like you have! I've been trying for those beautiful little chestnut backed chickadees. Congrats!
Hi Michelle congratulations on winning the prize! Your photos are stunning.
my first thought was...fabulous header photo and, upon reading, saw a lot of other folks thought so as well. nicely done!
You take beautiful photos! Love that Bramble.
Good job on the photo entry wins!!!!
Beautiful pictures... Still envious of your snow! A new, reasonably priced camera is on my shopping list someday.
