After the one baby barn swallow casualty, I am happy to announce the rest of the hatch has successfully fledged. Like last year, I kept Oreo cat in the tack room for a few days to give the young swallows every chance to "get their wings." Yesterday morning they were flying about the barn with their parents. :-) (I love their little faces; click to biggify them.)
Also taken yesterday morning. It makes me smile to see my man lovin' on our dogs (Dozer is in the chair with him). I think they were smiling, too. :-)
Yesterday's strawberry harvest. Several containers of raspberries went directly into the freezer. I need to pick currents today!
Can you believe I bought a watermelon with all this homegrown fruit to enjoy? Well, I did, because it's Brian's favorite fruit – and the chickens’, too!
And finally, who needs silver and gold when you have a fun horse to ride who is the color of a bright copper penny?
That's it for today from . . .

Strawberries. Ours are just beginning to ripen so I am jealous.
:-)
Love the picture of your husband and the dogs. Lotsa lovin going on there.
Looks like things are good by you. Yes, Garrett brought her the lamb and she is from polled stock. Her father is from Fl Holly, I think. I am going to post three of my lambs for sale. Garrett seemed to think that I might be able to sell them. That would be a great thing.
I love barn swallows! Unfortunately, we seem to attract starlings in our barn (and we hate them!). We do have Purple Martins in a Martin house high above the garden and it is so enjoyable to watch them flying around. A long time ago, an elderly man told me that if you have barn swallows nesting in your barn, it will never be struck by lightning. Guess that doesn't bode well for us.
Love the picture with the dogs, not only are they smiling, but asking ..."could you scratch a little more to the left?"
