A musical interlude

Now that I've finally figured out how to embed videos here, you'll have to indulge a mother's pride (or click to another blog). Below are two videos of Brian playing with his violin teacher, a wonderful man who has been great for Brian in so many ways. Brian just loves it when his teacher plays with him, and it's a treat for me, too. (After five years of violin lessons, I am actually enjoying some fruits of my investment and effort!) :-)

The first video is them playing Cripple Creek six months ago. The second (much longer) video was taken yesterday; they are playing the two violin parts of Bach's Little Fugue.

That's it for today from . . .

Wow...he has improved so much, in terms of his skill level, in the last year!

Thanks for noticing, Sis! :-)

Such concentration! He is doing a marvelous job - he obviously has musical talent - plus a great teacher and parents! How can he lose?

Susan, Brian is no child prodigy; his parents' musical talent is average, so most likely his is as well. But I sit with him and coach through EVERY practice, and he has had good teachers (this is his fourth). Each has been helpful in various ways, but the current teacher is the best in every way. I hope we can stay with him forever - or at least until Brian grows up and leaves home!

You have every right to be proud. Bach isn't easy to play. Looks like Brian really enjoys it!

What great videos. You have every right to be a proud Mom. I love the concentration on Brian's face; he looks like he truly enjoys playing the violin. Enjoy your week!

Well done Brian! The Bach is complex, and that you can play on so well during the fugue is evidence of your ability to concentrate and feel the music. You have every reason to be proud...as does your mom to be proud of you!

How wonderful! Big congrats to Brian. It takes a lot of dedication to become proficient at any instrument. It really is the one thing that you get out of what you put into but a good teacher makes all the difference.
I believe violin teachers must be saints!
I took piano lessons for 7 long years and hated just about every minute of it because of the teacher. I read music well, and wish that I had gotten more out my years of practice and lessons.
