Fiber projects

Tuesday night I finished spinning the Welsh top sample I got with my Jenkins holly Aegean spindle. I am plying it 2:1 with the Finn/kid mohair singles shown. Since the Welsh isn't terribly soft, I might use the resulting three-ply to knit a small, fulled bag. So far, I haven't had much luck with knitted objects felting when I want them to!

Also on Tuesday I visited my LYS and bought enough of this
for the Lanesplitter skirt. I never thought I'd knit myself a skirt, but after seeing the many finished examples shown on Ravelry, I was sold. Everyone who makes it loves it, and it looks good on a variety of body types. I chose a colorway that seemed the best mix of colors for three-season use. Considering this is supposed to be a quick knit and we had rain mixed with snow coming down sideways Wednesday morning, I think I may get to wear it yet this spring!

My ultimate "fiber projects," though, are my sheep. :-) The nasty weather had ended by the time Brian and I got home from homechool co-op Wednesday afternoon, so the lambs got to go out play while the ewes stuffed themselves with rich, spring grass. The following video has a rough start, but was the best of the bunch that I shot. Let's hear it for lamb races!

That's it for today from . . .

i love the colors of the yarn for your skirt. those are 'my' colors'

the lamb video is delightful! i'm not sure how the heck i'm going to deal with lambing this year (i still have almost no use of my left hand/arm) but i am actually beginning to look forward to it!

i guess i'm going to have to count on my girls taking care of things themselves. thank God i have shetlands!

Cameron is loving watching the little videos and seeing all the pictures of the lambs... The skirt looks like a fun project... I finally found a sweater that I like and is easy enough I could see finishing it by fall/winter.

I love lamb races! And I love that skirt/yarn combination. Be sure to record your progress (and model the end result!)

Thanks, everyone! But Susan, I am allergic to the lens side of a camera, so no modeling promises. ;-)

Love the lamb races. Nothing cuter than lambies playing...

No rush, Michelle. It's a busy time of year, so don't let it take the place of other stuff that is more important.

Oh you really do a wonderful job with those spindles. Love the plying choices and that black welsh looks rich and sheepy. Can't wait to see the skirt, but lets all hope you won't be able to wear it into late spring. I've had just about all the cold, snow and mud I can bear for one year.
And the lambs, well ALL of the recent pics are cuter than all get out.

Love the lamb video. I'm hoping the weather cooperates next week when we have Alexia again so we can go spend time with Mim's babies. Your green pasture is a thing of envy! And yeah, I agree that the Oregon coast is a pretty awesome place - you are blessed, but then you already knew that.
