Fiber fix

Here it is, the third week into the new year, and just today I got some fiber on the wheel. More white alpaca - I can't help it, I'm duty-driven! As much as I would like to try out these bumps of lovely Gotland/Finn that Franna surprised me with (you should feel that white!), I feel compelled to finish spinning half the fiber the alpaca farm owner gave me. Once that is done, my obligation to her is satisfied, and I can spin anything I want. Well, when I have time to spin. Which is seldom. Sigh.

I finished the second lady-mitt last night. It didn't go quite as fast as the first one; I had to tink and reknit a couple times in my efforts to make it a mirror image of the first. I need to weave in the two ending tails (I knit the starting tails into my projects), wash both pairs, and deliver them to our mail carriers at the post office next week. I think that's the last of the gift knits for now!

That's it for now from . . .

Those bumps look huggably soft. Is that a word? I'm still spinning from my mystery bag. Doris and I had a laugh about that at the guild meeting. We know it's from her flock and that's all we know. Who cares. I spin every morning because it replaces running, which is no longer an option - hate that.

Congratulations on the finished mitts! You and some other fiber/farm bloggers I follow have almost got me ready to try knitting or crocheting again. Haven't done either since my daughter was a tiny tyke, over 37 years ago!!!

I've been doing mitts lately, too - crocheting them - I WISH I could enjoy knitting, but I just get so frustrated at my slowness and then if I make a mistake - knitting backwards drives me absolutely around the bend. I've been spoiled by the ease of ripping out crocheting! I just learned some Tunisian crochet this past week - it's like a cross between knitting and crocheting.
