Leave(s), II

The sheep gang's all still here, even though I'd let several of them leave to go to the right home(s).

Leave(s)

This morning I raked the leaves gathering on the tarp over the chicken run into the corner, and the girls are loving them. I guess you could call this a "chicken enrichment program," similar to what zoos do to keep their residents mentally and physically occupied. ha

The tarp covering has been such a blessing; although the rainy season has begun, the girls can still enjoy daily dust baths.

Unfortunately, we have had a hen leave us. Roosty, the last of our original four chicks, died sometime Monday night after looking peaked for a day or so. She was one of Brian's, so he consoled himself by cuddling Sweet Cheeks. Sweet boy.

A type of fertilizer

Autumn and winter are not considered "growing seasons" here in the Northern Hemisphere, but thanks to Vicki at 2 Bags Full and her Grow Your Blog party, it can be growing season if you have a blog!

Would you like more visitors and followers? More visitors and followers means more comments, and for me, your comments are the icing on my blog-cake. Plain cake can be tasty (depending on the cake) but icing makes it. (Okay, that's putting it nicely. What I usually say about cake – and it applies to blogging, too – is that cake is simply a carrier for frosting. As much as I like to bake/write/photograph, I'm not sure I'd continue to do any of it without "frosting.") So I am joining in on this party and invite you to do so if you'd like to. I'll be thinking of a prize to give away here, too, to make it a little more fun (hopefully).

Knowing how much I value your feedback nudges me to make the effort to comment more often on others' blogs. Comments are kind of like smiles; they take so little time and effort but can do so much to brighten the lives of others. So share a smile with all you meet today – and consider leaving a comment on all the blogs you visit today!

Where's that time machine?

In a rather unusual state of affairs for this usually monogamous knitter, I have three projects on the needles right now (shown below in order of cast-on).
My slooow socks
A Fish for Brian, cast on while waiting for the pattern below
My much anticipated Zephyr Cove – love!
I have also been thinking about knitting a couple more quick Leaf scarves for upcoming gift exchanges....

This weekend while chatting with my friend in Saipan via Skype (what a wonderful invention!), she mentioned that she loaned her shawl to her little girl during church and had a hard time getting it back. I have more of that white yarn, so of course now I have the perfect Christmas gift idea for little Hannah (they will be stateside for a visit then). Ack! I need a time machine! Can someone reset the calendar???

Wait. I knit another white shawl already, during the Ravellenic Games. It was earmarked as a gift for someone else, but I think Hannah will use and appreciate it more. Easier to think of a different gift for the original giftee (not a blog reader) than knit a shawl for Hannah on top of all the other knitting in my basket!

Still trying to knit like the wind at . . .
