'Tis the season for gardening and hay hauling and firewood acquisition and spinning along with the Tour de Fleece. It is hot and very dry and sometimes smoky. The days are growing noticeably shorter and fall is on its way, but there is much to do before then. So I'll throw a bunch of photos at you and get back to work!

Love all the beautiful pics, esp. the paintings. And a barn full of hay tops them all. Less smoky here compared to last summer, but hottest July on record plus extremely dry. August rain too late for my garden, hoping to get a
decent amount of winter squash. Der
Dee, I'm watering our garden every other day in order to get the little we get. My butternut squash is not setting any fruit yet, so I doubt we'll get much, if any, winter squash. I'm glad you've been spared some of the smoke. We've been hot at times, but not record-setting; praise the Lord for small favors!
Oh wow - that smoke looks rough. AQI was back here a number of weeks ago. It seems to depend on how the jetstream moves. To get a better idea if there is enough contrast in those two yarns, pull that photo up in your photo editing program on your phone or computer and look at it in B&W. :-) That's a LOT of hay - so glad you were able to get as much as you need/want. And OMG that wee spindle is so cute I can hardly stand it!
Smoke! We are on the East Coast and had exactly one really bad day of smoke coming from Canada. It was awful. Our air quality was listed as Purple - that is the worst rating. I can’t imagine having day after day of that. And it makes me so very sad, because we have caused this climate change which is either drought or flood - depending on where you live. To see a climate change in one generation is probably a first in earth’s history.
