Moulting

My working title for this second post of the week was “More Autumn Appreciation,” but yesterday a stereotypical Pacific NW front blew in and we're still getting buffeted by wind, rain, and blowing tree debris. The trees that have yet to turn (like the Japanese maples at the front of our house) might still bless us with fall color, but a lot of others are 'moulting' – like half my hens right now. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I took the photos above this morning.

But before those dreary views dawned, I had taken many others here and around town to share with you:
sunrise and valley fog from our deck

color on my deck

color along our driveway

color in the vineyards stretching off to the east along our lane

color planted in front of a vineyard
early camellias in town

starlings in the sky on my way home (I'm watching for murmurations!)

from the parking lot at work
deep valley fog one morning (no tree 'islands')

"Make zzzzz's while the sun shines"

a small harvest before the rain came; the volunteer kale is SO good

Happy November(!) from . . .

Wonderful photographs, especially the landscape shots. I think I appreciate them especially because I have too many trees for landscape photos. I do love our trees, though, so no complaints. We can get some glorious sunsets from our front porch, but the power lines are in the way for nice pictures. Oh well.

Enjoy those sunsets, Leigh! The human eye does a wonderful job of editing out things like power lines, unlike cameras.

That kale looks different. Since it's a volunteer do you know what kind it is? And the photos really are stunning today, Michelle :-)

I don't remember the variety, A, and didn't much like it the year I planted it as it is kinda spiky and as usually happens, the aphids eventually infested it. But as a late-thriving volunteer it is aphid-free, sweet and tender. And the Red Bor variety that I planted this year because it has been performing well DIDN'T do well this year; go figure.

You sure live in a colorful section of the US - between your sky pictures and the vegetation - a gift for the eyes. Also I keep forgetting you guys have a French Bulldog. My daughter had one and he was a sweetheart.

Your photos are beautiful! I always look forward to seeing and enjoying your posts.

I hope your knee is getting better.

We have been enjoying the beautiful fall colors, both along the highway to Eugene, and all the beauty there, as well.

Take care!
