Back to 'normal'...

...whatever that means. Right now that means Christmas decorations are stashed away for another 10 months, the house is thoroughly vacuumed, furniture is put back in place, and I'm faced with the next 'big thing' – taxes. Not ours (yet) – first I have to do monthly and quarterly payroll taxes and W-2s for Rick's clinic. I plan to get all that done on Sunday, along with making a four-loaf batch of bread and getting some stuff listed on eBay. (MUST declutter more this year!)

We're in the thick of basketball season here. Brian had games Jan. 3, last Tuesday (he got his first double-double!) and last night; the next ones are coming up Saturday and Monday. His team won last night's game decisively, the first time they've done so; they are definitely improving as the season progresses. Here are a few iPhone shots of #23 (look for the fluorescent orange shoes) in the first three games of 2019 (Rick has gotten better shots on his 'big boy' camera but it's hard to get copies of those):

With the games getting more exciting, I've done less spinning and/or knitting, but sometimes NEED something to do with myself to keep from getting too worked up! Current WIPs remain knitting the green striped BSJ and spinning the flaming roving.

We're entering another short stretch of sunny weather before the drizzle starts again. It is both warmer and drier than average here. Hopefully the snow stays in the mountains so we get the slow melt needed to feed the rivers and reservoirs for the summer.

That's it for today from . . .

12 ribs! Ouch!!! I had one broken and one cracked from a pony kick, that agony as enough, I can't imagine 12 of them. Will she be getting on her horse again?

I've been wondering, too, if Kate is going to ride again, when she's healed up. I would hesitate, but I'm a chicken!

It's good to hear that Brian's team is doing well, and I really like those hot orange shoes!

That's a great picture of the mountain!

It was cold here yesterday. It seemed to go right through your coat. This morning it's freezing. Looking forward to the warming, when we get the rain again. We still need the moisture!

I love January and the normal that comes with it. We are expecting a touch of snow today - inch maybe 2 - and I made my first BIG pot of bean and ham soup of the season. Preparing it now for the freezer.

Theresa, I know she expects to ride again, and that is more than half the battle!

Jeanne, Brian's team isn't really going well in terms of games won and lost, but they are making some progress personally and as a team, which is more important we think.

Elaine, I doubt we'll get ANY snow here this year. I love soup, but my husband does not....

I love those orange shoes! That's a great way to be able to track him. I had to laugh at your description of doing handwork to calm you down - I can so relate. Another gorgeous shot of the sky - what a beautiful part of the country you live in!

Michelle, I love soup as well, and my husband is so-so on it. But bean and ham soup?? He doesn't like beans or ham so I make that soup entirely for ME!! And I am good with that. I freeze it into serving sizes and enjoy it for breakfast, lunch or dinner (when he is having something I am so-so on, like burgers and fries - which he could live on every single day haha). I only have my fridge freezer now that we live in the condo so once I eat down some space in there I'll make another soup just for ME!! :-)
