Noteworthy

September 17, 2017: We had our first eight-egg day in I-don't-know-how-long (more than a year?), and rain! Hip-hip, hooray!

Good for you (and your hens)! Our "old girls" are still giving us plenty of eggs but we know they're going to molt soon and our newbies won't start laying until November so I've been stock piling eggs just in case we have a dry spell. I just hate to be out of our own eggs!

Good for your layers! Our girls have been laying between 2-6 a day. More often than not 4-7 on any given day. But when the heat was on they frequently dropped to 1-2 and who could blame them? I am lucky that a gal in my spinning weaving all things fiber Wednesday night group had 36 pullets pop at the same time. So when I run low I can buy eggs from her of good quality. The search is on still to add four more layers to the flock giving me fourteen and Mr.Paul Newman my Roo. We will get the rain also becoming quite cool this week with snow dropping at 6000 feet. Come on winter❄️
