On Sabbath afternoon, we drove over to Schreiner's Iris Gardens with my MIL and a friend of hers. Even though it's late in the season, it was still gloriously Eden-like, thanks to all the mixed plantings. It was good to be back; we've missed our "annual pilgrimage" the last couple years.

Yesterday, finishing the garden was on the top of our list and we got it checked off. The eight tomato plants (Sunsugar, Cherokee Purple, Jet Star, Italian Plum, Grape Juliet, Big Boy, two Better Boy), were joined by two Japanese eggplants, two hills of Spineless Beauty zucchini, eight sweet pepper plants (Valencia Orange and seven Sweet Baby Mix – Rick told me to buy all they had of his favorite) four curly kale plants, three Genovese basil plants, three rows of Walla Walla Sweet onions, three hills of cucumbers (two Bush Crop and one Lemon), two rows of Bush Blue Lake 274 beans, two rows of snap peas (Oregon Giant and Sugar Snap), and one row of Scarlet Nantes carrots. I bought more starts than seeds this year because we're so late in getting our garden in; hopefully that jumpstarts us towards production. Here's to keeping everything watered and weeded so it can feed us well!

That's a big vegetable garden! And all the fleeces are looking good - If I didn't have so much here already to spin . . . Hoping to get some spun up during Tour de Fleece next month :-)
