Two by two

Today's haul:
Woot! Until yesterday, we hadn't seen two eggs in one day since November! Yesterday the thin-shelled big one had already broken by the time I opened the pop door in the morning, but today I got them both.

A less positive pair are these two:

Ram Blake was limping for awhile, but seemed to be getting better this week. Then Browning came up very lame. So this morning I got a halter on Browning, put him in the Ram-ada Inn, and called Rick down from the house. He couldn't find any obvious problem, but recommended I leave Browning in the Ram-ada Inn to recover.

Well, Blake hung around outside in the Ram-ada Inn lot ALL DAY, mashing it up into a fine, muddy mess and making himself lame again in the process. Strange; I was pretty sure that he had been lame in the right front leg before, but tonight he was lame in the left front – the same leg that Browning is favoring. Anyway, I let him into the Inn-turned-rehab-ward; hopefully the half-brothers will take it easy and both get better soon. Or maybe it's just an elaborate ruse they've contrived to get out of the rain until the ark is built at....

Nice eggs!

Ha, the boys just might have had a plan to stay out of the rain...

One of my old girls is laying a very thin-shelled egg, too. I have yet to make it to the nesting box before it is crushed. Poor boys! I agree with Nancy!
