Celebrating the Celtic way

Today was our 34th wedding anniversary, and as luck would have it, there was Scottish Festival being held nearby this weekend as well! So the McMillens went to McMinnville, in proper grey and drizzly weather, to learn some history, eat some shortbread, listen to some pipes and drums, and watch some mighty men perform feats of strength.

It was a wonderful way to celebrate our special day AND the start of "summer." Brian's last day of school was Friday, so no more daily drives to Salem; woot! Oh, I finished plying the turquoise singles, too:

That's it for today from . . .

it looks like you had agood day. An enjoyable way to celebrate. I have never been to a Highland Games event - the closest was a Burns Night Supper!!!!

What great photographs! I am inordinately fond of men in kilts - I must have some Scottish genes. Such powerful guys!! Love the turquoise yarn - you create such even, lovely yarn on a spindle. It gives me hope...

This was my first Highland Games as well, Alison. They have always conflicted with our schedule, but this one was a two-day event and we could go yesterday. It was great fun!

Thanks, RK! I was VERY happy with how my iPhone's camera performed.

What's not to love, Susan? ;-)

You got some GREAT pictures, Michelle! I kinda like the way the guys look in the kilts. And now we know what they wear under them. (Oh, I wasn't supposed to notice that??)

Oooh, what fun! I love a good highland games, and I'm a big fan of the bagpipes too, so I hope you got to hear some good music. Your spindle spinning is fabulous as always, and in such a lovely bowl for display!
