Things have been rather fluid here – in the way that white-water rapids are 'fluid.' I think the stress of it all weakened my immune system, because the headache I began Monday with was quickly joined by aches, chills, and hypersensitive skin, exactly the symptoms I get from a flu or Covid shot. Great. Today was more of the same, so I suspect I'll be staying home from the family Christmas dinner to avoid sharing whatever I've got.
I will admit to keeping my Monday afternoon appointment with the pain management practice for my sciatica/bulging disk, though. We discussed the various options and settled on trying Gabapentin for nerve pain, which the doctor deemed much safer that the daily Aleve I've been taking. He also cautioned against lifting more than 15 pounds unless I want risk more injury to the bulging disk, so I will have to recruit more help from my guys.
We did get our Christmas tree cut, put up, and decorated Sunday. Rick had no Christmas spirit so Brian and I (mostly Brian, bless his heart) took the initiative, then Rick joined in.
And here's a beautiful photo of my mom with son-in-law and grandson at ZooLights in Lincoln that my sister sent me.
Merry Christmas from . . .

Merry Christmas! The tree is beautiful. So festive. I hope you are feeling a bit better by now, but it's probably smart to just stay away from everyone until you are feeling much more like yourself. I'm sorry about the sciatica. It's not like you needed anything else to deal with this year . . . Geez . . . The photo with your mom in it is wonderful! With my most recent go-round with NSAIDs, I think it's probably a smart plan to not be taking Aleve every day. I hope the gabapentin does the trick for you - and that your men will be picking up the slack in terms of any kind of heavy lifting. I have two discs that are ruptured in my lower spine. I'm pretty good now - and pretty strong, but man, when they were the worst it was really the No-Fun Plan. I do not wish that for you!
Michelle, I'm praying that you are feeling better by now. Pain is not fun. As you know. The arthritis in my hands is at it worst, but I get to see my rheumatologist on Jan. 14th. I can hardly wait!
Your Christmas tree is lovely. We've given up bringing in a tree, because of my daughter's allergies - both to a live tree and to a manufactured one.
We went to a lovely candlelight service last evening, at our church.
Hoping you're having a wonderful Christmas Day!
Thanks, A, and Merry Christmas to you! Somehow I missed or have forgotten about your discs with all your other health issues. I'm praying that time, PT, and gabapentin will resolve my disc problem, especially since we are changing insurance plans at the beginning of the year.
I am slowly getting better on both counts, Jeanne; thank you. We had two lovely Christmas services at our church last weekend. I'm home alone now, and that is just fine with me.
