Grey day

I don't mind fog; in fact, I rather like it most of the time. But today's unrelenting pea soup combined with tired eyes and a headache made for an oppressive-feeling day. My young horse needs to get out as much as possible to keep from going stir-crazy, though, so I ventured out in the damp, chill greyness to ride him and felt much better for it.

The rest of the day was spent indoors keeping the fire going, homeschooling, doing some work for a client, spinning the white Gotland, and making this for supper (the cauliflower version) – complete with homemade croutons (from homemade bread) and fat-free sour cream. (Brian and I gave it two thumbs up; Rick gave it one.) Now the dogs and I have the house to ourselves for awhile, and the only thing that would make the evening better is having some decadent dessert at hand – non-fattening and healthy, of course. :-)
Dozer on the couch illustrates the day perfectly
That's it for today from . . .

  1. Dozer looks like he doesn't care so long as he gets to stay in and stay comfy, warm and dry.

  2. Decadent and non-fat......isn't that an oxymoron?

  4. Dozer--What a great face! I have trouble with grey days too. Always helps to get out and DO something. It's hard to do it, but once I do I feel better.

    1. My headache improved so much after being outside for awhile, I wondered if there was something in the house causing it!

  7. You're right, Michelle. Getting outside in the fresh air (grey or not) really does help you feel better. Sometimes I have to force myself out the door, but I always feel better afterward. I would feel WAY better if I had a horse to ride!!!!

Unfortunately, I'm more of a baked goodies kind of gal.... :-/

  9. Cream of vegetable soups is why I LOVE my immersion blender - you don't have to jockey hot soup between a pan and a blender. worth every penny.

That soup looks like a good recipe - I was looking through some of the cauliflower recipes on that web site though and for the life of me, I can never figure out how they can say that "mashed cauliflower" are anything like mashed potatoes - it just not right... T.

    1. I used my immersion blender for that soup; such a handy tool!

I don't make mashed potatoes but I DO make mashed cauliflower; it's my guys' favorite way to eat that vegetable!

  10. Also, I was wondering if Dozer had a bowl of popcorn in one hand and the TV Remote in the other - he looks like he's settled in for a M*A*S*H marathon or something - he he he...

  12. We've had a full week of grey. The fog gets stuck in this little valley and makes the entire day bone-chilling cold, dreary and ghostly.

  13. Wow, what a great looking bully. My bully looked good when he was younger. He is now pretty gray, right down to his eye lashes. Makes me sad. But your boy is wonderful.
