All is calm – at least momentarily

After a busy week and even busier day (as Fridays always are), the beginning of the Sabbath hours is a welcome respite. As a child, one of my favorite Friday night traditions were the candles my mom lit around the house. I don't always light candles, but tonight, just before supper, I did.
I had the house to myself for a few minutes, so I turned turned off all lights except for the Christmas decorations and candles.

Sacred Christmas music played softly in the background, and there was peace on earth.

  1. I love candles for any occasion. Enjoy the quiet, and the soft smell of candles.

  2. Quietude - nothing better. I just bought some of the "electric" candles - they actually smell and feel a bit like candles, and I don't have to worry about some small lightening bolt knocking them over! Have a peaceful sabbath!

  4. Hey you - your photography gets better and better all the time, & your Christmas tree is gorgeous.

Thanks for sharing that poetry slam - I think that's the problem with a lot of today's youth - their parents have not brainwashed them the way this young man's have.

XOX for a Happy Holiday! T.

  5. Oh Michelle, this was a favorite thing Dave and I would do...light candles and sit in the candlelight and talk...for hours and hours. There's a lot to be said for slowing down.
